Why the Ultimate Tennis Showdown will help to modernize tennis according to Tsitsipas

Stefanos is quite keen to play the new event organized by Patrick Mouratoglou

Tsitsipas UTS

Stefanos Tsitsipas is the last and most notable addition of Patrick Mouratoglou’s Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) that will take place at the Academy of the Frenchman located in the south of France. The Greek sensation has been working for many years with Patrick and he has been training at his centre during the recent Coronavirus pandemic.

The French coach has been launching this interesting event (UTS) that will be played without the fans from June 13 and it will use technology extensively. Patrick’s idea is also to allow the players to express their emotions. This is something that has been missing for some time as tennis is following an etiquette based on “good behavior.”

During various interviews, Mouratoglou has often expressed the fact that tennis needs emotions like it used to be back in the 70s and 80s with the likes of Connors and McEnroe used to hit the headlines also for showing their emotions. The UTS will try to bring back his concept.

Tsitsipas and the UTS

During a recent interview with Tennis Majors, Stefanos said that the UTS can be great to set an example on how to modernize tennis.

“I believe the UTS is going to provide something fresh. And it’s also a way to change our sport. An evolutionary product. Which is going to open new doors and make tennis a bit more modernized and more updated,” he commented.

Stefanos also maintains that tennis has all the possibilities to become more “modern” using all the new technology that is widely available.

“Tennis is becoming very modernized and with today’s technology and the way things are changing day by day, tennis is going to be one of the sports that are going to bring in fresh and innovative things that are going to help a lot in the growth of it,” Stefanos added.
