Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are challenging Roger Federer for ending their career as the player with most slams under his belt.

Currently the Swiss has 20 slams titles, Rafa 19, and Novak 17. However The Spaniard and the Serbian have age on their side and on top of it they were playing rather good tennis before the Coronavirus pandemic halted the sport.

The number of slam titles (singles) is often and arguably used as the gauge to define who is the greatest in the history of the sport. For this reason, the Big3 are focussing their attention on this precise record.

Nadal had the luxury to be coached by many years by his uncle Toni that has always expressed the fact that Federer is the greatest (at the moment). However, during a recent interview with Ubitennis, the Spaniard explained why he thinks that it will be both Nadal and Djokovic to have more slams than Federer.

“I think both Rafael and Djokovic will be able to overtake Roger. Age is on their side. If Rafa were to win in Paris this year he will hit twenty like the Swiss, then we’ll see,” he commented.

It was recently confirmed that the Roland Garros will take place this year in September while there are some doubts about the US Open.

Rafael Nadal in 2020

At the moment ranked no.2, Nadal played his last match on the 29^th of February when he overcame Taylor Fritz 6-3 6-2 in the final in Acapulco to win his 85^th career title.

Currently, this season Rafael has a 13-3 win-loss record. The Spaniard has won 1 title in Acapulco.

Novak Djokovic in 2020

At the moment ranked no.1, the Serbian played his last match on the 29^th of February when he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-4 in the final in Dubai to win his 79^th career title.

During this season Djokovic has a 18-0 win-loss record. The Serbian has won 2 titles in 2020 at the Australian Open and in Dubai.

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic played each other 55 times. The head to head is 29-26 for Djokovic. The last time that they fought against each other, Novak Djokovic won 6-2 7-6⁴ in the final in Brisbane, Perth, Sydney (ATP Cup) on the 12^th of January 2020.
