Rafael Nadal has already conquered 12 Roland Garros and it seems more and more likely that he can go for his 13th later in the year. After the Coronavirus pandemic, the tours have been halted until August and the various organizations are frantically working to bringing the tennis back to normality.
The Roland Garros has been postponed to September and there is a strong will to make it happen with as many fans as possible.
The 3 conditions
Of course, Nadal will be the big star of the Frenc Open and he will be completely committed to playing it. However, during a recent interview with Stade 2, he admitted that he will play only if 3 conditions will be met: safety, same possibilities for everyone, and everyone can participate.
“If you can compete safely, with the same possibilities for everyone, because we come from different parts of the world, and everyone can participate, I will be there. But today we must go with caution and responsibility to make the right decisions to guarantee the health of all of us who make up the world of tennis,” said the Spanish legend.
Training regime
Later Rafa commented about his training regime stressing the fact that avoiding injuries is currently one of the most important things while slowly getting into the groove.
“I am fine. I have been two months and something without being able to leave the house. Luckily, I have machines that have allowed me to do physical training.
Now I have been training for a couple of weeks, but very little by little. I do not train every day I am training progressively, slowly and with the utmost caution. The goal is to be ready for when you can play again and right now we don’t know,” he added.
