Djokovic receives a prestigious award from the Republic of Serbia

Nole receives yet another award for being a fantastic ambassador for his country.

Djokovic award

Novak Djokovic has been a huge ambassador for his country! The world no.1 demonstrated to everyone in the world that a kid that had to endure the trauma of bombing could find his way to stardom.

Novak received a prestigious award from the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic because of his exceptional personal engagement and contribution to promote the interests of the Republic of Serbia in the world.

When he refused to become British

Nole has always shown his love for his country. Back in the days when he was not so successful and money was an issue, his family and he refused to accept to play for the UK refusing to sell their soul.

REFUSING BRITISH NATIONALITY. When Djokovic and his parents stayed loyal to Serbia

Novak is also extremely passionate when he plays for his country. While he managed to conquer the inaugural ATP Cup back in January, one of the best experiences he had was winning the Davis Cup title in 2010.

Unfortunately, Nole has never won a gold medal for his country and he was inconsolable when he lost to Rafael Nadal in the Beijing semifinal (2008) and in the first round in Rio de Janeiro (2016) at the hands of an exceptional Juan Martin Del Potro.

Novak revealed his pride in being Serbian and the fact that it’s very important for him to represent the country.

“Many Serbian people have hopes and good positive energy nowadays and a lot of those hopes actually come from sport.

This is one of the greatest assets our country has, if not the greatest. The president has talked about it. That’s why as athletes from Serbia we all feel an extra responsibility to represent our country wherever we go not just by playing somewhere, but always talking about it. I believe my country deserves more than it gets at this moment press-wise and hopefully, it is going to turn around.,” he said.
