42 years old Kate-Drum gets to the 3rd round at the 2013 AO!

Unbelievable stuff. You think Roger is an example of longevity? Think again … we have Kimiko! OK, she is not world no.2, but well over 40 she is still competing very well at a slam!

Kimiko this time defeated Israeli Shahar Peer to play Jovanosky in the third round.. not an impossible match!

“Everybody say to me, ‘You are crazy.’ First word is always, ‘You are crazy.” says Kimiko.

The Japanese is the same generation as Steffy Graf. The German beat her in the semifinal of the Australian Open in 1994. Apparently Steffy says to her “Of course, she say to me, ‘You should stop now and make the baby,'”

Now Kimiko is the second oldest player in tennis history to reach a third round of a grand slam after  Renee Richards that reached the third round at the Australian Open in 1979 when she was 45.

Time to break also that record?
