Roger Federer is arguably the most talented tennis player in history. The Swiss sensation has won 20 slams displaying extremely entertaining tennis that contributed to making him a fans’ favorites for years.
However, people are drawn so much about Foger’s talent that they sometimes missed that he is a really funny guy. This is what Federer’s coach Severin Luthi said to Roger’s former coach Paul Annacone. Paul used to coach Roger from 2010-13 and he was the one to call in the team Severin.
Tennis Channel has been hosting a show called ‘Coaching In the Bigs’ that is conducted by Annacone. Paul invited Severin and he asked him to name 1 thing that the fans don’t know about Roger.
“It’s tough, I mean there are a lot of things you could say. He is a lot funnier than people think so that’s probably one thing. People always think of him as a great tennis player but he is also very funny,” he said.
At the very beginning of his career, Roger was sometimes reprimanded for joking too much and not putting a laser focus on tennis. Things changed when Roger’s coach Peter Carter tragically died in an accident in South Africa.
“I guess he didn’t want me to be a wasted talent. I guess it was somewhat of a wake-up call for me when he passed away and I really started to train hard,” said Roger during a tear-jerking interview.
