Date-Krumm becomes Australian Open’s oldest female winner

Amazing stuff from Kimiko makes history for being the oldest player to win a tennis match at the Australian Open.

Of course… that had to come from a Japanese. Kimito is not 100 years-old (not yet), but she is ranked 100 in the world and at 42 years of age she still enjoy a lot her tennis. It has been 23 years since she played her first match i Melbourne and she didn’t lose her drive at all.

Yesterday it was an incredible match as she didn’t defeat a qualifier, but the 12th seed Nadia Petrova… and she didn’t just beat her… she trashed her conceding only 2 games!

From Date-Krumm

Talking about the secret of her longevity, Kimiko said “It’s nothing. Just I eat a lot; I sleep a lot. Last night I was in bed before 10 o’clock. I finished dinner already (at) 7.30; sleep before 10, just like the kids.”

“Because always after the match or after practice I’m tired, so I need time to recover a lot. So I sleep a lot. I eat healthy foods. I drink a lot. It’s simple life. That’s it. Nothing special,” she said.

This is definitely one of the best stories of the season.

Well done!
