Novak Djokovic has been doing an exceptional job in setting up a tennis event in the Balkans during this interesting time affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. A few weeks ago, the world no.1 hinted the fact that many unofficial tournaments were about to take place at regional level, and he leads the trend by setting up the so-called Adria Tour that will be played in the Balkans.
The 17-slams champion managed to go 1 step further compared to the other events as he has succeeded in attracting top players in this event. Nole will be part of the tour, but he will also enjoy the company of the likes of Dominic Thiem, Grigor Dimitrov, and Sascha Zverev. The German was the last addition, as announced by Novak during a press conference in Belgrade.
“The fantastic news I want to announce today is that Sascha Zverev, Alexander Zverev, will come to Belgrade. Three of the world’s greatest tennis stars. I’m really very grateful to them,” said Djokovic.
The Adria Tour takes place from June 13 to July 5 in Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia on clay courts. The money raised will be donated to various charities.
“It’s humanitarian. That is to say, absolutely, all the income, whether it comes from sponsorship contracts, national and international audiovisual rights, everything will go to humanitarian organisations,” he revealed.
