Serena Williams and Cori Gauff are the picks for Hall of Famer Gigi Fernandez as the double partners she would choose among the current players. The Puerto-Rican had the opportunity to compete since very early in the junior tournaments in the US since her Federation was part of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). Later on, she managed to represent the US when winning 17 slams in doubles.
Why Gigi would like to play with Serena or Coco Gauff
During a recent interview for the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the tennis legend said that she would like to play doubles with Coco Gauff besides siding with Serena (an obvious choice).
Gigi commented:
“Other than being obvious and saying Serena, I would say Coco Gauff. I think she has true talent and true potential. She’s a pretty smart doubles player, and she could probably use some help from someone who’s been there and done that to help her get to the next level and win some Grand Slams in doubles, which I think she will someday.”
