At 32 years of age and with 17 slams under his belt, Novak Djokovic is widely expected to break Roger Federer’s slam record of 20 single titles. However, if the Serbian wants to achieve this feat, he needs to stay focus, fit, and play as much as he can while being competitive.
During a very interesting interview with Graham Bensinger, after being asked about the possibility that Nole will compete until he is 40, he replied:
“I don’t believe in limits. I definitely want to go for a long time. But I’m aware that the amount of tournaments I’m playing is going to decrease very soon. I will not be able to play at this intensity, with this many tournaments and this much traveling, for a long time. I might be playing at 40, but then there will probably be a focus on the biggest tournaments and the tournaments that mean the most to me.”
It’s interesting that a few days ago, Novak’s wife Jelena disclosed to Graham that Djokovic indeed retired, but it was for just 10 days after he had a couple of disappointing losses at the Sunshine Doubles. Then the love for the sport kicked in again and more glory came for the Serbian sensation.
