Bianca Vanessa Andreescu is well-known for having nerves of steel during the crucial moments of her matches. The world no.6 impressed when she won the US Open last year against the great Serena Williams when everyone in the (huge) stadium was shouting the support for the American legend. The Canadian sensation admitted that her resilience comes from a specific state of mind that is frequently trained. She has always professed her “love” for meditation and visualization inherited from her mother Maria. Bianca once revealed that well before winning the US Open she even wrote a fake check with the prize money for winning the slam.
Beating the Coronavirus
Bianca applied her techniques to beat the depression that the Coronavirus lockdown caused to many people. During an interview with Eurosport’s Tennis Legends, the Andreescu revealed:
“I have only just got back to working out. It is tough here in Toronto because they even closed all the parks. Nobody can play any tennis, basketball or even just sit on a bench. But I have been working out in my mind as much as I can. It’s a very powerful tool that I like to use.”
Bianca has been sidelined for long by a knee injury that she suffered back in October when playing the WTA Finals. The Canadian seemed to be fully recovered last month when she was meant to play the Miami Open, but the event was canceled because of the Coronavirus. Unfortunately, the world no.6 will not have the chance to defend her Rogers Cup title this year as the competition in Montreal was canceled.
