Bianca Andreescu is having a rather frustrating 2020. The tennis sensation was due to finally come back to competitions in March after she was sidelined for long by a knee injury suffered at the WTA Finals. Eventually, Bianca’s comeback was brutally halted by the Coronavirus pandemic and therefore the world no.6 hasn’t played a single match this year.

However, Bianca is putting a lot of effort into building up her fitness as she was clearly too prone to injuries and she already looks in top form.

I want to be the world no.1

During an interview with Eurosport’s Tennis Legends podcast, Bianca confirmed that her main goal is becoming the world no.1 to say:

“I have only been working out right now. It is tough here in Toronto because they even closed the parks. So, nobody can play any tennis, basketball or even sit on a bench. But I have been working in my mind. As much as I can. It is a very powerful tool that I like to use.

I don’t know what the future has on hold, but I’m going to give my best, I don’t like losing so we’ll see but that’s definitely the goal as every other Grand Slam is as well,” added Andreescu, who reached a career-high ranking of four last year.

Because I want to reach that number 1 spot. I really do.

Last year, Bianca impressed after winning 3 top titles in Indian Wells, Toronto and the US Open. The soon-to-be 20-year-old demonstrated that when she is fit she can beat absolutely everyone.
