Matteo Berrettini, Reilly Opelka, Amanda Anisimova and Danielle Rose Collins are among the top names that will compete in the UTR Pro Match Series in Florida in May.
With the tours officially stopped until (at least) the 13th of July, this competition will be a nice (unofficial) refresh from the US.
On the gentlemen’s side, the event will be held in West Palm Beach from May 8-10. The competitors will be Matteo Berrettini, Reilly Opelka, Tennys Sandgren, and Tommy Paul.
On the “WTA” side, the location will be the same. Amanda Anisimova will take on her dear friend Danielle Collins, Alison Riske, and Ajla Tomljanovic (that is also Matteo Berrettini’s girlfriend). They will play from May 22-24.
The event will be staged without line judges, ball kids and fans. It will be aired by Tennis Channel.
According to Universal Tennis Chairman & CEO Mark Leschly:
“The world has changed and we must adapt and innovate. Local, individual and small group play will be the new normal for the foreseeable future. The UTR Pro Match Series showcases how tennis can be played locally, safely and have results count toward the UTR global rating.”
On Friday there was an exhibition that was staged in Germany and Patrick Mouratoglou is organizing another unofficial even at his Academy in the South of France.
