Polemical Kyrgios disagrees with Federer and Nadal on merging tours

A couple of days ago, Roger Federer posted a message on twitter that created shockwaves all over the tennis community: merging the tours. Even if this is rather a well-known topic, it’s the first time that a heavyweight like Roger throws the idea so publicly on social media.

Of course, there have bee many reactions. Most of the players expressed their approval; some (eg. Pospisil) stressed the fact that merging the tours wasn’t Roger’s idea but it was something that was floating around for long.

Later, the Australian wrote: “Did anyone ask the majority of the ATP what they think about merging with the WTA and how it is good for us?”

Probably he shared the frustration of some other players that they should be consulted a bit more and these sorts of decisions shouldn’t not be taken only by an “elite.”
