This Coronavirus pandemic has completely disrupted our life and routines all over the world. The most important and tragic aspect of this outbreak was obviously the horrible loss of lives that has afflicted so many countries. However, the severe and crucial lockdowns that have been implemented in many parts of our planet to fight the virus created many problems. While the loss of jobs and the paralysis of the economies are the most obvious critical issues, people are also struggling for the lack of more mundane activities such as practicing sports.
Tennis was also halted at all levels. Given the nature of the sport and the obvious natural distancing, playing tennis (singles) should carry no danger at all. Rafael Nadal has recently vented his frustration for the fact that it sounds illogical banning players from practicing the sport. The good news is that some countries such as Austria are already easing the lockdown and tennis (singles) can be already played.

According to the Italian outlet “La Repubblica,” individual sports in Italy will be allowed after the initial lockdown is halted (beginning of May). Apparently, tennis clubs are waiting for the green light. Of course, tennis players should respect the safe distance, but… why not?
Finally, Patrick Mouratoglou has also announced the launch of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown that is a league that should start at his Academy the 16th of May after the strict lockdown is expected to be lifted.
