This is how and when tennis will restart according to Novak Djokovic

Tennis has been halted for more than 1 month as countries started to plan the lockdown. However, after so much time, it is still unclear when the tours will restart. Officially all will stop until (at least) the 13th of July with the clay and grass court seasons wiped out.

When and how tennis will restart

The big question mark is when tennis will start again and how. Patrick Mouratoglou is launching a league (the Ultimate Tennis Showdown) that will hopefully be played at his Academy in the South of France starting from the 16th of May. Rafael Nadal Academy has also the idea of attracting more top players to eventually stage training and competitions to also televised them. In fact, travel restrictions will be an opportunity for these facilities and there is a concrete possibility of staging some sort of competition if players are not too greedy with prize money.

During an Instagram live chat with Fabio Fognini.res

“I think there will be more regional prize money tournaments. I think this is what’s going to happen very soon. I don’t know what’s going to happen with quarantine. Spain, Italy, and all the other countries in the world will probably have different models.

It will be difficult to start the tour because our tour is every week in different countries. So I think there will be regional prize money tournaments, but probably not points at the moment because it’s very complicated.”
