After so much speculation, it’s official: the Roland Garros has been postponed!
The French Open was meant to commence the 24th of May, but it became more and more clear that that date was a bit too tight. The Euro2020 was postponed to the following year and after that decision, it was clear that something had to be done with the French Open and probably Wimbledon.
The Roland Garros tournament director, Gilles Forget, revealed that the timing was too tight. Therefore, it became more and more clear that the Roland Garros was in danger and fortunately they found a date (a plausible one) for the tournament to be played. Eventually, this edition will commence on the 20th of September until the 4th of October.
That means that the Laver Cup (25-27 September) may be canceled or postponed (December?). However, this is rather good news as we might have our slam on the dirt also this year. Nadal and his fans should be rather elated.
