There are all sorts of speculations about how long the tour will be suspended. Donald Trump revealed that they think the emergency will last for the entire summer and probably more to cast doubts about the feasibility of the US Open.

Back in Europe, the clay-court season seems more and more in peril. The WTA has suspended its tournaments until the 2nd of May. However, the ATP is still trying to keep alive the ATP250 in Estoril that should be played in the last week of April. The sponsors and the organization in Estoril will try to keep the tournament alive until the last minute.

This is the original statement from the organization:

“As is well known, in the context of the global spread of the Covid-19 virus. ATP today announced the suspension of the circuit for 6 weeks for reasons of safety and public health.
This suspension ends in the week of April 20, so it does not cover, for now. the Millennium Estoril Open.

Regardless of that fact, the organization of the Millennium Estoril Open has been in constant communication with ATP as well as with government and public health entities to assess the viability of the Millennium Estoril Open at the end of April.
It is public knowledge that this is an extremely volatile and rapidly evolving situation, so the main priority of the Millennium Estoril Open organization is the defense of the health and safety of everyone involved in our event – the public, staff, partners, and players.
As soon as new developments occur, they will be duly communicated.
