CORONAVIRUS. Tennis players reported going back to their countries

Djokovic Monfils Svitolina

It’s a tough moment all over the world because of the Coronavirus outbreak and that is badly affecting also the tennis schedule. With countries progressively closing their borders, it’s more and more difficult (if not impossible) to stage tennis tournaments. Most of the top tennis players were in the US for the Sunshine Double and they are reported to head back to their countries. After the cancellation of Indian Wells, the Miami Open seems more and more to follow the same path. According to reports, Monfils and Svitolina were seen taking an airplane back to France. Furthermore, Novak Djokovic prompted players to go back home asap: “I do not see how the Miami tournament will be held under these conditions. My advice to all guys in the US is to return to Europe in the next 48 hours, maybe earlier.”

Djokovic is flying back home right now.

Rafael Nadal was already reported to be back in Spain after the cancellation of Indian Wells. He will probably spend the next few weeks preparing for the clay-court season hoping that some tournaments will take place in the next few months.
