Super focussed Li Na comes from the cold to win her opener in Sydney

These tennis players are super heroes. No time for Li Na to celebrate her title in Shenzen and the Chinese just grab an airplane to land in Sydney and win her opener in straight sets.

It took 2 hours for Li Na to win this match, but apparently her biggest hurdle was being tired, the jet lag and… the (very) different weather condition.

Fighting the heat…

Li Na was coming from Shenzen where the temperature was just a bit above freezing to be in a quite hot Sydney.

“I was playing in China, so I have to (get) used to the heat,” Li said about her decision to play in Sydney

I couldn’t come straightaway to Melbourne. I needed some matches in the heat conditions, otherwise I don’t know what I can do in Melbourne.”

… and everything else

“And the jet lag, time change, I was feeling today very tough. I (told) my team … my legs (feel) like 200 kilos. I couldn’t move.

“Yesterday the coach said (the most) important match is today, because today is really not for technique, it’s challenging for your mind to show how strong you are on the court.”

Li Na will play the Japanese qualifier Morita Ayumi that upset Daniela Hantuchova 1-6 6-3 6-3.
