Rafael Nadal, Denis Shapovalov, Cori Gauff and Naomi Osaka are among the top players that reacted to the abrupt cancellation of Indian Wells because of the Coronavirus.

The Spanish sensation was already training in Indian Wells to comment: “You probably all heard the news. Indian Wells cancelled. We are here and still deciding what’s next. So sad for all that is happening around the world with this situation. Hopefully soon solutions from the authorities. Stay all well and safe.”

Now ranked no.2, Rafael played his last match on the 29th of February when he beat Taylor Fritz 6-3 6-2 in the final in Acapulco to win his 85th career title.

This year Nadal has a 13-3 win-loss record. Rafael clinched 1 title in Acapulco.

Denis Shapovalov

Denis was looking forward to having a deep run in the desert after a not so great season so far to comment: “I’m shook”

Currently the world no.16, Shapovalov played his last match on the 21st of February when he lost to Alexander Bublik 7-5 4-6 6-3 in the quarter in Marseille.

Ranked world no.52, the American played her last match on the 26th of January when she capitulated to Sofia Kenin 6-75 6-3 6-0 in the 4th round of the Australian Open.

Naomi Osaka

At the moment ranked no.10, Naomi played her last match on the 7th of February when she surrendered to Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-0 6-3 in the Rubber 1 of the Fed Cup

Naomi Osaka’s most significant result of this season was reaching the semi-finals in Brisbane.

Naomi reacted with an emoticon to the announcement of the cancellation of the event.

Cori Gauff and Naomi Osaka played each other twice. The head to head is 1-1. The last time that they squared off, Cori Gauff won 6-3 6-4 in the 3rd round in Melbourne (Australian Open) on the 24th of January 2020.
