Radwanska downs Wickmayer to win the Auckland title

Good start of the season for Agnieszka Radwanska that wins the final in Auckland without much struggle. The Pole gave the impression to always been in control of the match and to be 100% ready for the Australian Open.

Radwanska – Wickmayer 6-4 6-4

The match ended after 1 hour and 37 minutes. There was no dominance in service games as Agniesza had to face 6 break points (she saved 2) to break Yanina 4 times (Wickmayer saved 8 break points).

There was a bit of a “drama” at the end of the match when the Belgian didn’t want to give up to save 5 match points. Eventually the quality of the Pole took over and Agnieszka won the title.

“I couldn’t imagine a better start to the year,” Radwanska said. “It’s the perfect preparation for the Australian Open.”

“I’m a little disappointed,” Wickmayer said. “But I fought my heart out and I left my heart and soul on the court. I couldn’t have done any more than I did.”

This is Radwanska’s 11th title. Well done!
