Brilliant Dimitrov defeats Baghdatis to play Murray in Brisbane final

Grigor Dimitrov is stepping up and he might be ready to appear on bigger stages in 2013. Known as “baby Federer” the Grigor is having  remarkable tournament in Brisbane to defeats players such as Raonic, Melzer and an inspired Baghdatis.

Dimitrov – Baghdatis 6-3 5-7 7-6 (5)

It is definitely not easy to play the Cypriot in Australia where Marcus looks always super inspired and he has a strong support from his fellow countrymen (there are many in Australia and they are really passionate).

The first set was relatively smooth for the Bulgarian that squandered a 1 break up lead in the second set to then fight in the decider. Eventually Grigor won the third set at the tie break at 5.

Dimitrov set that they did set the target to reach the final in this tournament “We were actually pretty serious about it, and now that it happened, I was in the locker room and my coach was like, `Well, I told you so,” he said. “Definitely every tournament I play of course I want to be in the final.”

Murray – Nishikori 6-4 2-0 ret.

Not a good news from Nishikori as he had to retire because of an injury to his left knee when he was 6-4 2-0 down.

After this win Murray commented “It is tough when players have to retire with injury,”

Murray – Dimitrov —> head to head

These two played only once in 2011 in the Bangkok quarter finals where Murray won 6-4 6-4. Andy is definitely the favorite, but Grigor is much better than 2 years ago…
