Wozniacki, Stosur crash out in Brisbane opener

New season, same story. Caroline Wozniacki can’t really get back to his previous level to be upset by a much-lower-ranked player. Sam Stosur can’t win on the home soil to lose again in a first round in Australia

Pervak – Wozniacki 2-6 6-3 7-6 (1)

Pervak came from the qualification and she was recovering from  bad pelvic injury to immediately upset the former world no.1 The match wasn’t of a great quality with Ksenia committing a whopping 61 unforced errors that were enough to defeat Caroline.

“Had a lot of long rallies and a lot of even games, and it just didn’t go my way,” she said. “Obviously it’s tough to lose 7-6 in the third. It was a tough match. Could have gone both ways. She just went for it and it went in for her. Hopefully I can get some more matches in Sydney and be more prepared for Melbourne.”

Caroline was playing in front of her boyfriend Rory MaIlroy and that wasn’t sweet…

Arvidsson – Stosur 7-6 (4) 7-5

Sam can’t really make it at home. If you count last year’s debacle andthis one, she has lost 4 games out of 5 in the last 2 years in Australia. Something to have a look at.
