Petkovic won’t play the Australian Open because of knee injury

Andrea has so much back luck as she has to continously cope with an array of injuries. Last year she had to skip the Australian Open because of a stress fracture to her back, then she had a horrible injury in Stuttgart to her ankle and now she had this blow in Brisbane just at the beginning of the season.

The Bad News

Well… it’s that Andrea has to definately skip the Australian Open also this year… but there ar also good news..

The Good News

It seems that  the injury is not about the knee ligament (she broke it in 2008) but it’s her meniscus.

“I had an MRI this morning and they found out it is a rupture of the medium meniscus,” Petkovic said.

“They don’t know yet if they have to trim it. If they do it will be fine and I will only be out for a month. I could probably be playing already after two weeks, hitting balls. That would be really great.

“If they have to sew it up again it will take two to three months, but nonetheless I’m quite relieved that it wasn’t the anterior cruciate ligament as it was a very similar pain and symptoms to 2008 when I had my ACL torn in Australia”

Good luck and waiting for Andrea’s comeback!
