Tsonga says he has chances to win a Grand Slam

Jo is definately one of the most interesting and entertaining players on tour. Now ranked world no.8 (after reaching the 5th spot in 2012),  the Frenchman is bullish about his chances in 2013.

Winning a Slam is possible

In a recent interview at news.com.au he said: “We are in a state of tennis where the field is extremely deep in terms of talent and winning against one, two or three of the guys in the top four in any given tournament is a challenge.

Winning a grand slam is possible but I need to be on top of my game.

Today I believe in my chances as I have proven that I could beat any of these great players at a grand slam.”

Preparing for Australia

“The travel to Australia is long and the time difference somewhat complicated. The weather is also a factor.

I felt that the Hopman Cup was a good compromise between training and competition and, with my coach being in Australia, it even made more sense to be there.

For now there has been a lot of discussions with Roger about what we need to work on and plan.

I have just returned from Miami where I worked on my conditioning for three weeks and have started tennis again for about 10 days.”

Tsonga reached the Australian Open final in 2008 (that was great fun)… time to improve this result?
