Casper Ruud breezes past Pedro Sousa 6-1 6-4 in the final in Buenos Aires on Sunday after playing a fantastic match to win his 1st career title, the 1st of this season.

Ruud had a running start at the beginning of the set after breaking Sousa in the 2nd game (2-0) before consolidating his break and lead 3-0. Casper managed to boost his lead after breaking the Portuguese in the 6th (5-1) game before winning the set (6-1).

Sousa had to surrender the 2nd game (2-0) when he had a good chance to win the game when leading 40-0.

Ruud was quite dominant at the beginning of the set to break Sousa in the 1st game (1-0). That was sufficient for Casper to win the set (6-4) since there were no other breaks.

After the match Casper commented: “It’s a great feeling. I’m enjoying the moment, of course. It’s something very special when you get your first title and the biggest title of your career so far. I’m enjoying it a lot, but I also have to recharge and think forward, think of the next tournament.

I’m already playing in the next tournament again on Tuesday in Rio, so I have a big task ahead of me. But I will try as good as I can to be ready.”
