That’s not a nice moment for Mr. Draper as his organization (LTA) had a “spectacular” budget cut because of a very unflattering motivation: low performance and lack of strong ideas about of to develop the sport.
Then of course criticisms started to blossom when people commented about the LTA boss salary: 640,000. In a way the reasoning is quite correct. If Sport England cuts a budget because LTA is deemed not to have strong idea, it is a bit strange that LTA boss has a huge salary.
“LTA is useless”
The criticism came also very close to LTA as Baroness Billingham who worked on the board that lead to the cut in the budget said that ‘It’s unthinkable that someone earning four times that the Prime Minister has not got ideas for the shake up of the sport’.
“You don’t give bonuses for failure, surely, and a priority has to be placed on grassroots sport.
“The LTA is one of the wealthiest sporting organisations in the country and it’s my honest and genuine opinion that they are useless.”
“LTA is failing”
“This report from Sport England means what the LTA is doing, or failing to do, is absolutely unacceptable,” said Baroness Billingham. “The people who can hire and fire are the board of the LTA, but I see no sign whatsoever that they are moving to even chastise Roger Draper.”

According to Jennie Price, CEO of Sport England “We need to give them a year to step up their game and prove they can deliver it,”
