Why Auger-Aliassime was so happy after beating Carreno-Busta. Monfils next for the Rotterdam title

The Canadian is extremely satisfied especially with 1 part of his game

Felix Auger-Aliassime is 1 step from finally winning his maiden tournament in Rotterdam. The Canadian sensation was already the runner-up in 3 events after last year he reached the finals in Rio De Janeiro, Lyon and Stuttgart.

The Canadian looked particularly sharp in the semifinal against Pablo Carreno-Busta especially on serve as he dropped just 3 points on the first serve to serve 16 aces and committing just 2 double faults.

After the match against the Spaniard, Felix commented: “The first set was really tight with both of us serving really well. I was serving the best I’ve ever served in that first set and then played a solid tie-break.

In the second, things got interesting with that long [3rd] game. I was thinking, ‘If this goes my way, it might be tough for him.’ So, I really pushed to get through. Obviously, you know the end is coming if you keep serving well and keep holding your serve. Things got a bit difficult, saving that break point after making some tight mistakes. It was not easy. I came up clutch again, so obviously I am happy with myself.”

Feliz will face Gael Monfils in the final for the first time of his career.
