“It is important for the Romanian sport. I didn’t come here for myself; I didn’t come here for myself; I came for the new generation that is new to infrastructure. We need a room where the Fed Cup team can play,” she said. Simona Halep specifically stated that Romanian tennis required significant financial help.
Romanian sports legends urge the government to support the new generation in sports
Nadia Comaneci demystified just why it was significant for the sports legends and government ought to support the upcoming generation in the Romanian sports sector. She believes that the success of Romanian sports is always the joy of every citizen of Romania. Therefore, it is essential to support the future generation by providing all the needed facilities to ensure they reap more success than their predecessors.
Gabi Szabo, a gold medalist athlete during the 2000 Sydney Olympics, was even tougher in her speech regarding the need for sports to be funded more. The former Minister of Youth and Sport said that Romania needed more athletes in Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic games. But for the country to win more medals, more funds ought to be channeled the Romanian sports. Furthermore, Gabi Szabo insisted firmly that it was high time sports became a priority in her country.
Camelia Potec, the former swimmer, also weighed in on the significance of investing in Romanian sports. She lamented that it had become even difficult to talk children into joining the sporting world due to a lack of enough facilities. Also, though parents are interested in allowing their children to join sports, they don’t see any great sports institutions to send them to. So, for her, sports should receive enough funds if it has to be regarded as a national priority in Romania.
