Murray fails to win the 2012 BBC Sport Personality

For BBC it wasn’t enough for Murray to be the most successful British tennis players in decades. Andy didn’t get the award, but most incredibly he has been overtaken by 10 other athletes!

The Winner

The winner was the cyclist Bradley Wiggings that won the Tour de France and the gold medal at the Olympic Games. Among  the other contenders we had huge personalities like the golf star Rory McIlroy.

Not Enough Andy

It was a difficult decision, but maybe Murray could have been taken a bit more seriously. in 2012 he won the US Open (1st British to win a slam in 76 years) and the Olympic Games in singles (you have to go back to 100 year to find a British to win this).

Time to bet on 2013

Andy wants more to try to have an even better 2013 (and finally winning this award?) to comment , “I would love to win Wimbledon and more grand slams and I’m working hard and doing everything I can to achieve that. I think adding more consistency, so the focus is the same throughout the year regardless of the tournament, will also be a goal. 2012 was my best year so far on the tour, I’d love to make 2013 special as well.”
