Next week the WTA event in Dubai is going to take place and the local fans will have the pleasure to see the Australian Open runner-up Garbine Muguruza that has just accepted a wildcard. That is great news also because the event has recently lost Ashleigh Barty (injury) and Bianca Andreescu (still not at her 100%).

The Spaniard will challenge the likes of Simona Halep, Karolina Pliskova, Belinda Bencic and the defending champion Elina Svitolina. In addition, Garbine’s Australian Open conqueror, Sofia Kenin, will be part of this exciting line-up.

Tournament director Salah Tahlak is elated about having Muguruza playing the event to comment: “Garbiñe has been ranked as high as No.1 in the world and is clearly once again playing at the very top of her game. In the 20th year of the WTA event in Dubai, we can all look forward to seeing if she can become our 14th ladies’ champion in what is certain to be a fascinating week.”
