As a two-time Grand Slam champion, Naomi Osaka is one of the most recognizable tennis players in the world. The Japanese star is among the world’s greatest marketable athletes and has signed several endorsement deals since she won her first Grand Slam. Osaka’s brand got a great boost this week after she launched her own collection at the New York Fashion Week.
Osaka displays her fashion collection in New York
The glamorous event began on 3rd February and will end on Wednesday. Models wearing Osaka’s designs strutted the catwalk this week. The former world number one took to social media to thank her partners for making one of her dreams come true. In her post, Osaka revealed that she had worked on the designs with her sister. “Pretty surreal to now say that a collection I drew with my sister walked in New York Fashion Week. Thank you, everyone. ”The two sisters sketched the designs as a hobby during long car rides to tennis tournaments.

Osaka collaborated with the ADEAM fashion house to put together the collection. Famous fashion designer, Hanako Maeda, founded the fashion house. Naomi’s designs were also on display at the High Line Hotel in New York on Monday.
Serena also has a collection at the fashion week
Osaka has now achieved a feat that her fellow tennis rival and idol Serena Williams accomplished last year. The 23-time Grand Slam champion launched her ‘S’ line collection at the New York Fashion Week in September. Serena will also be displaying her latest designs at the fashion week this month. Osaka and Serena have had a great relationship over the last few years and it now seems that the Japanese is following in the footsteps of the former world number one. While the two have been enjoying their time off the court, they had some disappointing results at the Australian Open.
After winning the tournament last year, Osaka was unable to put up a successful title defense. The Japanese star lost in the third round to American teenager Coco Gauff. Serena also exited the tournament early, losing in the same round to Chinese player Wang Qiang. They both played for their countries during the Fed Cup qualifiers last week. Serena helped Team USA win its playoff tie against Latvia while the world No. 10 suffered more disappointment after Japan lost to Spain. The two will not play in the remaining WTA tournaments this month. They will be back on the court in early March for the American Swing of the tour.
