EXPLAINED. Why Bianca Andreescu is not able to play in Dubai

Bianca gives an explanation about her retirement from Dubai

Andreescu

Bianca Andreescu was expected to return to competitions last week on the occasion of the Fed Cup tie between Team Canada and Switzerland. The US Open champion was sidelined by a knee injury since last October and eventually she wasn’t able to defend the colors of her country. Later she had also to withdraw from Dubai.

Bianca released the following statement: “I’m very sad to announce that I won’t be able to compete in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships next week. I’m not at 100 per cent yet and following my team and doctor’s recommendation; I don’t want to take any risk to re-injure my knee.

Each day I get closer to being back to the court competing but Dubai is just too soon. I hope I can come and play in Dubai next year.”

Bianca is still scheduled to compete in Doha the week after Dubai.
