Peliwo goes for more after a brilliant junior career

The Canadian tennis is on the roll.

Milos Raonic reached the 13th position in the ranknig to be definitely ready to break into the top 10 any soon. Nestor is a top double player for ages (he is currently world no.5) and now it is time to have a new guy coming in: Filip Peliwo

Peliwo’s 2012

Currently the world no.1 in juniors, Filip was the first tennis players since 1984 to reach all 4 Slams finals in the junior category to win Wimbledon and the US Open. The last guy to reach this achievement was the Australian Mark Kratzmann.

“I never thought I would do that,” Peliwo said “I was just as surprised as everyone.”

Filip was also impressed by winning the award as the ITF junior player of the year, the same award was given in the senior categories to Djokovic and Serena Williams.

“It’s amazing,” said the Canadian. “Just to be in the same sentence as those guys is an honour and a great achievement for me. It’s a great feeling.”

About his future

Of course…Filip wants more, but he knows it won’t be easy

“I’m starting to realize what I’ve achieved exactly,” Peliwo commented.

“I’m trying not to think of it as a guarantee for my future success but it’s definitely given me confidence for my future and it makes me want to work even harder.

“It shows me my goals are within reach if I just do the right things.”

Filip will start his climb from his 521st spot in the ATP rankings.

From the Tennis Canada President

Michael Downey, the Tennis Canada President, commented  “This kid, as he now turns pro, we know he can handle pressure situations,

And, I think at this level that’s half the game because they’re all great athletes.”

We are eager to see this new champion coming strongly from Canada…to big stages!
