Naomi Osaka struggling with personal issues

Naomi reveals that she is dealing with personal problems

Naomi Osaka

Naomi Osaka didn’t start 2020 in the best possible way. The Japanese reached the semifinal in Brisbane and she lost as early as in the 3rd round in Melbourne. The Japanese registered a shocking performance against the world number 78 Sara Sorriber Tormo during the Fed Cup tie against Spain to lose 6-0 6-3 after committing 50 unforced errors. Eventually, Naomi was spared to play the second single, given her condition.

Naomi commented: “For me, I’m kind of dealing with some stuff and I couldn’t mentally get into the match. It’s sort of… my fault.”

The Japanese had a rather prolonged crisis also last year after the Australian Open following her sudden and traumatic split with her coach Sascha Bajin. The only big difference with last year is that “at least” she won the first slam of the season.

Osaka will not play any competition in the next month as she will be back in Indian Wells (9th of March) as she is not scheduled to compete in any other tournament in the meantime.
