So far, so good for Novak Djokovic-the world number one in men’s singles rankings. The Serbian started the season by clinching his 17th Grand Slam title in the Australian Open. Besides, he took his tally of Australian Open titles won to eight. However, Novak Djokovic did not have an easy encounter in the final playing against Dominic Thiem. The 26-year-old really gave him a run for his money. But eventually, Djokovic carried the day with three sets to two sets victory against the resilient Thiem.

Novak Djokovic’s trip to Italy

After the Australian Open, the Serbian alongside his wife, Jelena Ristic, and children Tara and Stefan took a trip to Dolomites, Northern Italy, for a skiing holiday.  The 32-year-old dressed up in a yellow and black mountain gear while skiing down the slopes.  After reaching the snowy peaks, he took off his skis, lay down, and had a look at his phone. His children were zipped up in green and blue coats with their faces covered in goggles. Djokovic also took some time to help out his children by zipping them up in their coats and putting on their googles prior to climbing a chairlift.

Djokovic and his entire family were residing just close to Ortisei village in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Apart from enjoying himself, he also spent some amazing moments with his wife. He was spotted kissing her. The two have been in a relationship since 2005 and were high school sweethearts.

Novak Djokovic closing on Nadal and Roger Federer in terms of Grand Slam titles won

It is evident that there is a great competition between Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic, who have won 20, 19, and 17 grand slam titles, respectively. Nadal and Djokovic have, on various occasions, expressed their urge to match and even exceed Federer’s current record of grand slam won. And with the Serbian winning the first grand slam title of the 2020 season, he is moving closer to his worthy competitors.

Despite lifting the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic experienced some difficult times not only with Dominic Thiem in the finals but also Roger Federer during the semifinal. The world number one walked towards the umpire’s seat before tapping Dumusois’s foot. Then he sarcastically told him, “you made yourself famous in this match. Great job. Especially in the second one. Great job. You made yourself famous. Well done, man.” This act by Novak Djokovic might earn him a $20,000 (AUD$ 30,000) fine. Nevertheless, the Australian Open champion has already apologized for the mistake he committed.
