Serena Wililams launches her luggage line partnering with Away

Serena Williams had a disappointing run at the Australian Open last month. The 38-year-old lost to Chinese player Wang Qiang in the third round. Serena had been favored to win the competition after she started the season by winning the Auckland Open. While she will have to wait for another chance to win a record-equaling 24th Grand Slam title, the American superstar has been keeping herself busy off the court.

Serena excited to partner with Away

Serena recently collaborated with the luggage company Away to launch a limited-edition collection of designer luggage. The former world number one co-designed the collection which includes red signature suitcases which have colorful interior patterns and pockets. The prices for the collection will range between $225 to $295 dollars for hard side polycarbonate luggage. Soft side bags will go for $275 to $345 dollars. While revealing the partnership on her Instagram page, the current world No.9 wrote that she was excited about the project. “If there’s one thing I’ve learned after years of traveling, it’s important to have quality luggage. I am super excited to share my new luggage collaboration with Away.”

Serena’s other business ventures

Jen Rubio, Away’s co-founder, said Serena’s lifestyle represented what their brand stands for. “Serena defines today’s modern traveler, and her dynamic, multi-faceted lifestyle perfectly mirrors the essence of what the company stands for.” The company is planning to give its customers a look into the life of a modern-day tennis superstar like Serena. Her latest venture adds to her growing business portfolio. Last year, the 23-time Grand Slam champion collaborated with KP Sanghvi, a multi-million global diamond manufacturer, to launch a new line of fine jewelry. The jewelry collection included silver, gold and diamond jewelry pieces.

In addition to her jewelry collection, the American also launched her clothing line at the New York Fashion Week in September last year. Aside from her business interests, the former world number one still has endorsements with companies such as Nike, JP Morgan Chase, and Gatorade. Serena also leads the chart on the women’s side when it comes to accumulated prize money earnings, having earned over $90 million dollars in her illustrious career. Serena is the fourth all-time behind Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal. On the court, she is chasing Margret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam titles. Williams has been a finalist at three Grand Slams over the last three years but she has not been successful in lifting the title.
