The ATP approves a tournament in Bogota

Great stuff for the South American tennis. Recently the Region has been “blessed” by exhibitions played by top players such as Djokovic, Federer, Tsonga and Del Potro.

Federer and Tsonga will play an exhibition match in Bogota’ the 15th of December, and now it’s time to add some also a proper ATP tournament.

The good news is that Bogota’ will stage again an ATP event. The tournament will take place at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento, the same venue that hosted it bewteen 1997 and 2002.

From the ATP

The ATP Executive Chairman & President, Brad Drewett commented “The ATP World Tour is a truly global sports property, and demand for events around the world has never been greater.

This latest transfer represents a fantastic opportunity for the ATP World Tour to continue to strengthen its presence in South America, a growing market for men’s professional tennis. The new tournament owners have a wealth of experience in tennis and we look forward to a successful event in Colombia.

15-21 June

The tournament will take place from the 15th to the 21st of June on outdoor hard-court. We are sure that all top players won’t play as they will be in Europe for Wimbledon, but still.. it’s a great news!
