Roger Federer has finally landed in South Africa where he will play with his dear friends Rafael Nadal and Bill Gates in an exhibition in Cape Town that will take place this coming weekend. Roger and Rafa will try to break the record of attendance at a tennis exhibition that himself established last November with Sascha Zverev in Mexico City when 42,517 adoring fans had the chance to see the great man in action. Apparently, already 48,000 tickets have been sold and most probably more than 50,000 fans will attend thi event in South Africa.
During a press conference in Melbourne, Roger commented: “I don’t know what took me so long, to be quite honest. I said, ‘It’s not possible that I’m on the tour for 20 years, I’ve become the player that I have been, and I’ve never played in South Africa. It’s just not OK.’ I couldn’t live with myself if that happened.”
After landing in Johannesburg, Roger will head briefly to Namibia for his foundation to then go to Cape Town. This is going to be a special trip.
