Isner parts ways from his coach

It has been an interesting year for John Isner. The American giant managed to break in the top 10 to then slip back to the 14th position.

John had an interesting start of the year reaching the final in Indian Wells by defeating Djokovic in the semifinals. Then he beat the Swiss Maestro in the Davis Cup. This year the American won the same tournaments he won in 2011 (Winston – Salem and Newport) and he reached the final in Houston… then not much else.

Big Johny missed the grand slams to reach the round of 32 at the Australian Open and US Open, the round of 128 in Wimbledon and the round of 64 at the Roland Garros… not good to stay in the top 10.

So time to change! Isner has been training with Craig Boynton since 2009 when he was well outside the top 100 to reach the 9th spot in the rankings, but now something is missing.

“I had a great run with Craig, learned a lot and felt like I improved every year,” Isner said. “I just felt like it was time for a different voice. CB and I will remain great friends, and he will always be someone I can go to for help or advice.”

Michael Sell is the new coach. After being the personal coach of Monica Sles, Sell has been working with Fish, Isner and Young at different stage.

Good luck to both!
