Bellucci defeats Federer in Sao Paulo exhibition

Just recently Roger said that sooner or later Bellucci will definitely beat him (see video below). That has never happened so far as Roger played twice (always in 2012) against the Brazilian to always win in three sets.

The first match was the first round in Indian Wells where he won 3-6 6-3 6-4 and in the Basel second round where he won an even trickier 6-3 6-7 (6) 7-5.

So it was Sao Paulo, it was an exhibition, it was after a nice vacation and it was against a strong player, so… time to capitulate!

From Bellucci

“It’s always great to play in front of a full house,” Bellucci said “It’s a special feeling to play this guy here. He is the best of all time and it was a pleasure to share the court with him.”

From Federer

After praising everybody for the treatment he received after landing, in Brazil Roger commented

“I am very happy to be here. It took me a while to finally come to Brazil,

Everybody has been really good to me and I can’t thank you all enough for showing your support.”

In this nice video Roger “predicted” his imminent defeat (1.45s)
