Tomic left out the Davis Cup team for disciplinary reasons

There is more misery for Bernard. After all the tribulations he had during 2012 (100% his faults!), he now has to face another blow: being left out the Davis Cup team.

Bernard’s misery

The Australian had indeed a tough 2012. At the beginning of the year he risked to be jailed for 3 years because of a weird “car case”. Then the teenager was very badly accused of tanking at the US Open against Roddick to even threaten a journalist during the following interview.

Back home Tomic had other problems with the police after a brawl with a friend.

It seems that after that even his fellow Australians had enough of him to not even receive a nomination for the Newcombe Awards and now to be kicked out the Davis Cup Team. In addition, Tennis Australia will cut cut Tomic’s support funding for the start of 2013.

‘Pat has made the decision early that for the first tie next year Bernard will not be selected,” Tennis Australia’s director of tennis, Craig Tiley said.

”As a team, we just felt that part of the commitment that we make to athletes and athletes make to the sport is they always put 100 per cent commitment and effort in competing for their country.

“I think you can draw a few parallels with Marinko Matosevic. It’s very much along those lines. It’s not one specific incident, just an aggregation of his approach to the game.

“We just felt that this decision should provide additional motivation every time he walks on the court to be a total professional in his approach to not only his preparation but competing in the match and post-match.

“And it would be no different if he was the No.1 player in Australia, or the No.100 player, or a junior.”

Sam shared also her opinion on radia about Tomic “He’s young but he seems to be making a lot of poor decisions at the moment. I hope for his sake he grows up pretty quick.”

Time to grow Bernard, time to become a man.
