Novak Djokovic has promised not to be a pushy father to his children in regards to playing tennis. To ensure he honours this promise, his wife is ready to ensure that he does not turn out to be a pushy tennis father. The Serbian shed some light on that crucial topic after proceeding to the Australian Open. He beat Diego Schwartzman 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-0, to book a place in not only his 11th Australian Open quarterfinal but also 46th in a Grand Slam tournament. The current world number 2 is set to play Milos Raonic, who is ranked number 32 in the ATP world rankings.
Novak Djokovic vs Milos Raonic
The 32-year-old confirmed that his next match would be a bit different. First Milos Raonic is among the tallest players in the Australian Open. The Canadian is also very strong and takes pride in his biggest serves. Regardless of those attributes, Novak Djokovic admitted that he is ready to face him. Nevertheless, it will not be an easy match for both of them. The two will be meeting for the 10th with the 16th time grand slam winner having won all their last previous nine encounters.
Novak Djokovic on his children’s future
While talking to Todd Woodbridge, a commentator at Channel Nine, Djokovic highlighted how he expects to handle his children’s when it comes to playing tennis. He confessed that his son, Stefan 5, has already expressed significant interest in this spot. In fact, he knows several tennis players such as Nadal, Federer, among others. Besides, his son is always willing to play with him. The two are in an amazing father and son relationship. Stefan has also been exposed to a lot of tennis through watching his father play on TV and also traveling with him to various tennis tournaments. The five-year-old loves the forehand shot, but Djokovic is also teaching him the backhand shot.
For him, he doesn’t intend to force his son and daughter into playing tennis. He expects them to show honest desires in the spot first. Once the two children are genuinely interested in playing tennis, he will support them with all his might. However, according to his wife, Jelena, it is pretty early to talk about Tamara and Stefan’s tennis careers. As parents, they will give their young ones time and space to choose the Djokovic path or settle on the one they prefer.
