Mardy Fish to return to tennis in Auckland

Good news for Mardy (and for tennis) after a difficult year. Arguably the most exciting American player on tour, Mardy entered the top 10 ranking last year to try to consolidate his position in 2012. Unfortunately Fish had a weird problem to his heart that made him retire from tennis for few months.

Everything looked to be fixed until Mardy had to retire once again at the US Open for precautionary measures

Fortunately, it’s not game over and Fish has he planned to get back to competitive tennis in Auckland in order to build up his tennis for the Australian Open.

“Last year he was playing in the ATP World Tour finals after a great season. Funnily enough Mardy lost in 2007 to the eventual champion David Ferrer in the semi finals,” said tournament director Karl Budge “He’s an all court player with a strong net game, which will certainly add variety to an event normally dominated by the baseliners.”
