Coco Gauff has continued to star at the world’s biggest stage of tennis. The 15-year-old came into the limelight last year after beating Venus Williams in Wimbledon. She also won her maiden WTA singles title in Linz. Alongside Caty McNally, she won two doubles titles. She is currently ranked 67th in the WTA rankings.

Gauff’s tremendous rise in tennis has already started reaping her significant benefits. She no longer has to worry about the qualifications rounds of grand slam events. Besides, she does not have to rely on a wild card to participate in any major tournament. At the moment, the American is taking part in the Australian Open, where she has been off to a good start. The teenager beat Venus Williams 7-6 (5), 6-3 in her opening match.

Coco Gauff admitted that she has always admired the Williams sisters. In fact, she once said that both Serena and Venus Williams were her idols while growing up. She even had a poster of Serena Williams in her bedroom. The teenager boasts of an impressive win record against Venus Williams. She has already beaten the 39-year-old twice with the youngster’s latest victory coming in the ongoing Australian Open.

The world No. 66 is now expected to face off with Sorana Cirstea in the next round. She will be hoping to continue with her impressive performance so far. If that is the case, then she will be sending a huge statement on just how much she is committed to becoming the greatest.
