MELBOURNE RESULTS. Djokovic bests Struff in the 1st round of the Australian Open

Novak Djokovic tops Jan-Lennard Struff 7-6⁵ 6-2 2-6 6-1 in the 1^st round in Melbourne on Monday. Djokovic will play Tatsuma Ito or Prajnesh Gunneswaran in the 2^nd round.

1^st set.

Djokovic won the set after he broke Struff in the 6^th (4-2) game. The German tried to stage a comeback breaking in the 9^th (5-4) game. Anyhow, Djokovic didn’t make any concession anymore before winning the set at the following tiebreak at 5.

2^nd set.

Djokovic commenced this set in the best possible way after breaking Struff in the 1^st game (1-0). Novak managed to boost his lead after breaking Struff in the 7^th (5-2) game before conquering the set (6-2).

3^rd set.

Struff was pretty sharp at the beginning of the set after breaking Djokovic in the 2^nd game (2-0). Nonetheless, that wasn’t sufficient for Jan-Lennard to win the set as Novak managed to break back in the 3^rd (1-2) game.
