Tamara Zidansek bests Na-Lae Han 6-3 6-3 in the 1^st round in Melbourne on Monday. Zidansek will fight against Serena Williams in the 2^nd round.

Zidansek had a head start at the beginning of the set to break Han in the 1^st game (1-0). Yet, there was more work to do for the Slovenian to win the set since Han managed to break back in the 2^nd (1-1) and in the 4^th (2-2) game. Zidansek maintained her cool to break Na-Lae in the 3^rd (2-1), in the 5^th (3-2) and in the 9^th (6-3) game.

Zidansek won the set after she broke Han in the 4^th (3-1) and in the 8^th (5-3) game. Han tried to stage a comeback breaking in the 5^th (3-2) game. Notwithstanding, the Slovenian refused to give way before winning the set 6-3.
