It has not been a great start to the 2020 tennis season for Andy Murray. The Briton is already set to miss both the Rotterdam and Marseille tournaments as he tries to recuperate from a bone bruising. The three-times grand slam intends to give his injury enough time to heal before taking to the court once again. He intends to come back 100% fit to take part in the remaining tournaments.
Sadly for Andy Murray, a pelvic injury has really threatened his tennis career. The 32-year-old last played in November 2019 during the Davis Cup, where he did not perform as expected. This year his recurrent injury ruled him out from the ATP Cup. Furthermore, he won’t be participating in the upcoming Australian Open. And considering the slow speed, the bone bruising is taking to heal, Murray will not feature in Rotterdam and Marseille. If his recovery process goes as planned, he might make his comeback in North American Masters 1000.
. “I don’t want to rush anything or put a timeline on my recovery. I’m going to listen to my body and step back on the court to compete when the time is right. The bone bruising is taking longer to heal than first thought, and I will have to skip Montpellier and Rotterdam in February,” he said.
Injuries a threat to Andy Murray’s tennis career
Andy Murray is a player who has been through a series of injury setbacks. The constant blows have really jeopardised his career. Currently, he sits at position 127 in the ATP rankings, a serious drop for a former world number one.
The hip injury that he sustained back in 2017 July during the Wimbledon tournament has slowed down his advancement in tennis. It even prompted him to consider quitting professional tennis. However, he underwent a hip surgery that saw him return at the Queen’s where together with Feliciano Lopez they won the doubles title. He went on to win his first ATP title in Antwerp since 2017. Besides, he ended the season as the ATP Comeback Player of the Year.

Andy Murray will be hoping that by giving the injury enough time to recover will put in him in good shape to play tennis once more . Nevertheless, there is a possibility of inviting more injuries if he comes back to the court according to Professor Max Fehily who is not only a consultant orthopaedic surgeon but also a clinical director at the Manchester Hip Clinic.
“If Murray is able to return to tennis, he puts himself at risk of further injury at best, and at the other end of the scale may develop severe osteoarthritis,” he said.

Ranked no.127, Andy played his last match on the 20th of November when he defeated Tallon Griekspoor 6-77 6-4 7-65 in the Rubber 1 in Davis Cup.
