Gisela Dulko retires from professional tennis

2012 has been a remarkable year.

Unfortunately we lost some very nice players. After Gonzo, Ljubicic, Super Mum Clijsters, Roddick and Ferrero … it’s time also for Gisela.

Gisela is only 27 years old, but apparently she changed her priorities in life…

Achievements

The South American beauty had a remarkable career to finish 1st in the double ranking in 2010 and she reached a 26 career high rank.

She won 4 career single titles, 17 in doubles to achieve a 4.2mil USD in prize money.

Gisela won the 2011 Australian Open doubles with Flavia Pennetta.

From Gisela

“This was not an easy decision, despite the fact that it has been on my mind for quite some time,” she said “Tennis has been my life for the past 20 years.

“The reason why I have decided to retire from tennis is because I now have other priorities on which I want to focus. As a result, I don’t have the same desire or ability to make the sacrifices which are necessary to live the life of a tennis professional.

“This is my way of saying goodbye to tennis, a sport with which I fell in love as a very young girl and will continue to love my whole life.”

We are going to miss Gisela… an ever smiling player with a wonderful attitude. Good Luck!
